Un nouveau message vidéo d'Alan Wilder est disponible sur « YouTube » où, entre autre, il explique les raisons pour lesquelles il ne veut pas sortir un single habituel de « Prey ».

La sortie du nouvel album aux états-unis est prévue le 14 août 2007, tandis que « Prey », le premier single, y sera disponible en téléchargement le 17 juillet.

He's back !

Alan Wilder annonce, le 6 juin 2006, son retour dans son studio « The Thin Line » et de travailler sur de nouveaux morceaux. Il confirmera bientôt la progression de ce nouvel album studio par un premier vidéo-clip le 22 octobre 2006. Parallèlement, il est également expliqué que le site web officiel, Shunt, subissait un re-design significatif.

Le 22 avril 2007, l'annonce officielle arrive enfin : « After a 6 year break from recording, Alan returns with Recoil’s 5th studio album. Entitled ‘subHuman’, it has been provisionally set for release on July 2nd, 2007. "subHuman" asks us to reach within ourselves and extract the very essence of what makes us human - and more importantly what allows us to subordinate others, sometimes with the most brutal consequences. We are all 'subHuman' in somebody's eyes. » On apprend ainsi qu'Alan s'est, entre autres, adjoint la collaboration du blues-man Joe Richardson, natif de la Nouvelle Orléans, et de l'auteur-interprète anglaise Carla Trevaskis. Toujours assisté de son épouse, Hepzibah Sessa, Widler a également travaillé avec Paul Kendall, qui avait déjà collaboré sur l'album "Liquid" et les remixes de l'album "Unsound Methods".

Wilder maintient ses excellentes relations avec ses nombreux fans par une seconde vidéo, le 4 mai 2007, leur permettant d'écouter un extrait du morceau interprété par Joe Richardson, intitulé "Prey".

2007/Mute Records

After a 6 year break from recording, musician/producer Alan Wilder returns with Recoil's 5th studio album. Entitled 'subHuman', it has been provisionally set for release on July 2nd, 2007.

'subHuman' will be available on CD and limited edition gatefold vinyl. A special collector's DVD package will also be issued to include an enhanced stereo CD, a 5.1 Surround Sound version and an exclusive ambient re-working of the entire album. The DVD will also include all the Recoil videos to date.

Collaborating with Recoil is Blues-man Joe Richardson, whose evocative vocal style is complimented by accomplished guitar and harmonica performances. Born in Southern Louisiana, Richardson spent years immersed in the murkier side of New Orleans life and offers a unique commentary on conflict, religion, incarceration and personal struggle.

English singer Carla Trevaskis, a songwriter in her own right, brings an expressive range and control to 'subHuman' and has worked with artists as diverse as Fred de Faye (Eurythmics), Cliff Hewitt (Apollo 440) and Dave McDonald (Portishead).

Wilder's skill at blending diverse and eclectic musical styles with often controversial subjects has produced an album of complex sonic imagery and expansive dynamic range. 'subHuman' asks us to reach within ourselves and extract the very essence of what makes us human - and more importantly what allows us to subordinate others, sometimes with the most brutal consequences. We are all 'subHuman' in somebody's eyes.
